Keeping Informed: ASIC's E-Mail Communication Network (ECN)

ASIC's E-Mail Communication Network (ECN) is an e-mail distribution list, which has been created to help keep community members informed about progress on ASIC projects and other developments related to the sight impaired community. E-mails are sent through the ECN only when goals have been achieved or when significant changes have occurred - typically less than 3 postings per month. We also invite subscribers to use our ECN to bring important consumer issues or concerns to our attention.

The ECN was originally created in May 1999 to provide an efficient and cost effective mechanism for distributing information about ASIC’s projects and, occasionally, as an effective tool for gathering community opinion and consumer information. Today the ECN has over 650 subscribers from coast to coast. Subscribers include persons affected by a vision loss, family members, a variety of vision rehabilitation specialists, health care professionals, traffic engineers, and hundreds of others who have an interest in blindness or sight-impairment and the effect it has on those who are meeting the challenge.

Subscription to the ECN is offered at no cost to members of the sight impaired community as well as to those interested in staying informed about consumer issues relevant to our community.

We invite you to e-mail us to subscribe to the ECN. All you have to do is type “subscribe” in the subject line of your e-mail.

We would like to remind all current subscribers to e-mail us to update your address when appropriate. Please remember to type “update address” in the subject line and provide us with your old e-mail address in the body of your e-mail so that we can delete it from our distribution list.

Finally, although we can’t imagine why you would want to, you may e-mail us to cancel your subscription to the ECN by typing “unsubscribe” in the subject line of your e-mail.
