- Lobbying GVTA/TransLink and Coast Mountain Bus Company to install automated stop ennunciators on all conventional and shuttle buses operating in the Metro Vancouver area.
- Working on making taxi services more accessible by recommending, for example, that taxi meters include verbal out put messages such as taxi ID number, meter status and accumulating and/or total fare.
- Requesting the installation of accessible audio ATM terminals at various credit unions who are members of Credit Union Central of BC. We are also approaching several Canadian chartered banks to ensure this service is available as well.
- Lobbying for alternate format billing statements from several utility
providers and ensuring that their websites are W3C compliant to enable and
promote on-line review of statements.
- Requesting that television broadcasters replace the music bed with a voice-over when displaying the day's financial numbers on the evening
news.
- Working with Elections BC to ensure that persons who are affected by a vision loss can independantly and privately mark their ballot dduring the upcoming provincial general election to be held on May 12 2009.
- Lobbying prescription providers for improved access to
prescription information (by having them underwrite the cost of devices such
as the Talking Rx Prescription Device
